Medicine Bottles For Malawi

It's no secret that I take a large amount of prescription medicine to remain Clearly Alive. Some time after The Nightmare, I stopped throwing away the empty bottles. They were a reminder of how ridiculous my life had become and I kept them as some sort of trophy.

I rediscovered this box after unpacking from Malaysia.
The medicine bottles continued to add up. I continued to save them. I wasn't quite sure why I was saving them, I just was.

Hi cat.
I recently heard by way of a facebook post about an organization actively collecting these empty bottles to send to Malawi. All I would have to do is remove the labels, clean the bottles, and mail them to Indianapolis.

Left side, easily removed. Right side, I'll leave for the husband.
He has more patience.
Most of the labels pealed right off no problem. Walgreens was by far the easiest. Walmart was by far the worst. CVS could go either way. But all were eventually defeated by Goo be Gone.

Hi Cat. Hi ridiculous husband.
I sent them off earlier this week. It felt like a huge burden was lifted as I dropped that package in the mail. Those bottles represented such a scary time in my life. Since my Adrenal Insufficiency has become more stabilized, I've come off of three non-critical prescriptions. I don't need to hold on to those empty bottles.

Cat was not amused. Husband and I were very amused.

All ready to be re-used!
December 2015 Update: (Taken from the Malawi Project)
"December 15, 2015 PROGRAM SUCCESS
The pill container program has been a massive success. Well over 1 million pill containers have been received. In view of the need to keep focused on our other programs the Board of Directors has requested this program be concluded."
