April is for Awareness!

April is National Adrenal Insufficiency Awareness Month. To kick it off, I am going to highlight some of the products I have stumbled upon to help raise awareness. Several of these items, I have either purchased, or designed. And many of us donate proceeds to either NADF or AIU.

To start out, Malisha over at My Story With Addisons Disease has a large selection of items for sale through her SpreadShirt storefront and Adrenal Insufficiency United has great packets and kits containing emergency information with easy to understand brochures.

My friend Heather also runs a pretty awesome Zazzle awareness store called HiddenNoMore. She has many designs available as well. Pro Tip: If Zazzle seems super expensive, look for coupons. They are always running some sort of sale or discount.

Like this shirt? HiddenNoMore sells it here.
And then of course, there's my Zazzle store, ClearlyAliveArt.

Ah... the ever helpful Olive Thief.
I created a running shirt that I love to wear during my races. So far, I've had two women approach me at different races going, "Oh. My. Gosh. Me too. I have Adrenal Insufficiency as well."

I've also made it easier to order sweatshirts, t-shirts, or just general awareness buttons. I share these items not to make money or sell more items. I share them with y'all as a way to start conversations with others.

Let's make Adrenal Insufficiency as common of a house hold name as Diabetes. For Diabetics, their pancreas is dead. For us, our Adrenal Glands are dead. No one judges those that are required to take Insulin. Diabetics need not argue with ER personal explaining the necessity of their life-sustaining, life-saving medicine. Let's continue to raise awareness so that we no longer need to argue with ER about the necessity of cortisol in an emergency. Let us continue to speak so that people change their perception that all steroids are evil. Let's raise awareness. Let's make our future brighter.

How does that start? With simple conversations.
